Migration from 2.4.2 to the latest version

Hello,

I want to develop a web portal for which I have approached a vendor who has done a similar site in version 2.4.2. He wants to reuse the code and modules from there to save cost and time in my project.
Naturally I want my site to be in the latest version. My question is whether it is possible to migrate from that rather old version (2.4.2) to the current one easily?
Please advice.
