# CakePHP 3 upgrade

Hi,

Are there any upgrade tools for cakephp2 to cakephp3? I saw 1 one gitHub which does a partial update which is not something I really want to waste time on.

The changes between the two are large enough (Especially the ORM) that a fully automated upgrade is not possible. The [upgrade shell](https://github.com/cakephp/upgrade) will take you around 85% to 90% of the way. For a large application, it shouldn’t take you longer than a week, maybe 2 weeks to do a full upgrade.
